- The 2018 Best in KLAS report ranked the best vendor solutions for payer claims administration, care management, price transparency, and payer analytics based on five industry performance criteria.

KLAS ranked vendor solutions based on sales and contracting, implementation and training, functionality and upgrade capabilities, and customer support. KLAS rankings included a mix of new and established market solutions across each payer segment.

HSP earned the top spot as a new market entrant in the claims administration field while Cognizant continued to trend upward from prior years and Citra experienced a slight drop in rankings.

HSP earned an overall score of 82.6 (out of 100) and exceeded industry standard scores across the five ranking categories. Cognizant fell to the second spot after earning the top spot last year and increased their overall score to a 72.8. HSP could emerge as a dominant vendor in the claims administration space since it was able to outcompete the previous industry leader.

John Buser, CEO of HSP said that his organization is extremely proud to earn the top ranking in KLAS’s vendor review.

"We are absolutely honored to be named as the Top Performing Vendor for Payer Claims and Administration by KLAS Research,” Buser said.

“This marketplace is significantly evolving, and the flexibility, depth and quality of the HSP Payer Suite has been a game changer for companies across the country. We appreciate that our clients are willing to participate in the KLAS research and the assistance this provides to help HSP do a better job. We see this award as a true testament to all of the hard work and expertise that has been put forth by our team and the partnerships we have with our clients.”

Casenet earned the top spot in the care management segment followed by Medecision and Cognizant.

Casenet features exceeded general market performance and specifically excelled in implementation and training as well as functionality and upgrade features. Casenet teetered around the industry average in sales and contracting and customer support performance criteria.

Cognizant cracked the top three in care management solutions, which indicates that the vendor has a strong market footprint in multiple payer technology sectors.

Change Healthcare earned the top spot for payer quality analytics solutions followed by Verscend, MedInsight, Inovalon, and General Dynamics IT.

Change Healthcare earned high marks in general performance by scoring an 85.1, which was well above the general industry performance score of approximately 80.

KLAS additionally ranked other payer software solutions for enrollment and price transparency but had limited data on possible competitors in these sectors.

Connecture was recognized as the top payer enrollment technology solution. Change Healthcare earned the top spot in healthcare price transparency solutions followed by the HealthSparq platform.

The payer technology sector could present other opportunities for other new vendors if they can continue to innovate technologies that outperform current market offerings.
