- Change Healthcare, Health Solutions Plus (HSP), and Casenet were among the top-ranked solutions in the 2019 Best in KLAS report for price transparency, payer claims and administration, and payer quality analytics.

MedInsight and Activate Healthcare also received high scores for their payer-focused platforms.

For its annual report, KLAS interviewed industry professionals and end-users to determine which vendor solutions and services have the greatest impact on healthcare organizations. The research company ranked solutions in areas ranging from inpatient and clinical care to security and privacy.

“Best in KLAS is about raising the bar for healthcare technology,” said Adam Gale, President of KLAS.

“It's providers and payers demanding better performance, usability and interoperability. Ultimately, Best in KLAS is about giving providers and payers the tools they need to facilitate superior care and improved outcomes.”

Change Healthcare was ranked number one for price transparency once again, receiving an overall score of 74.3 out of 100. HealthSparq followed with a score of 71.3.

Change Healthcare was also ranked highly for payer quality analytics, earning a score of 82.5. Change took the second-place spot after MedInsight, which earned a score of 83.6. Both MedInsight and Change Healthcare exceeded the general market performance score of 79.2.

For the second year in a row, HSP came out on top in the payer claims and administrative platform segment, outperforming both Cognizant and Citra by nearly ten points.

HSP also bested Cognizant and Citra in last year’s KLAS report.

"We are absolutely honored to be named as the Top Performing Vendor for Payer Claims and Administration by KLAS Research. This marketplace is significantly evolving, and the flexibility, depth and quality of the HSP Payer Suite has been a game changer for companies across the country,” John Buser, CEO of HSP, said in 2018.

“We appreciate that our clients are willing to participate in the KLAS research and the assistance this provides to help HSP do a better job. We see this award as a true testament to all of the hard work and expertise that has been put forth by our team and the partnerships we have with our clients.”

Also re-claiming its top spot this year was Casenet, which received an overall score of 78.4 for its case management platform. Medecision followed at 68.8, and Cognizant took third place with an overall score of 58.5.

In the worksite health services segment, Activate Healthcare outperformed other solutions, earning a score of 95.3. The company was ranked highly in loyalty, operations, and value. Close behind was Marathon Health with a score of 93.9, and Vera Whole Health with a score of 90.3.

The worksite health services segment was the only one in which payer solutions achieved scores of 90 or above, suggesting that while the payer technology sector is continuing to improve, there is still room for innovative solutions to enhance processes.

The KLAS report reflects the top performers in the current market, and reveals that there are opportunities for new and existing vendors to advance the industry.
