How COVID-19 Has Renewed Focus on Health Equity and Social Determinants of Health

- The coronavirus pandemic has taken its toll on the individuals, families, and communities across the country and revealed disparities in how different populations are affected and able to respond to this public health crisis. While social determinants of health are by no means a new concept, the pandemic continues to highlight their impact on the ability of individuals to avoid infection and access quality care.  These health-related social needs lead to gaps in care, especially among at-risk populations.
